I honestly think (and this isn’t my idea, but I can’t remember where I heard it) that the Sixers should trade Iggy to Houston (they are very interested apparently) along with Elton Brand for Tracy McGrady’s expiring contract and completely start over. That way, they can start with a clean slate of cash (admitting that the Brand signing was, well, not good) and a semi-decent core of young players.
But, to answer the question above, I’d say “sure.” To lose Dalembert’s contract and get a player like Stoudemire to replace him would be a coup, even if it meant losing Iggy (who I think is VERY replaceable, even with guys already on the roster). It would be pretty interesting to see a starting 5 of Stoudemire-Brand-Young-Williams-Iverson/Kapono/Green (ugh)/or even Holliday, at some point. So, yes, I would say if they can’t make a deal to get out from under the Brand contract, then I would do this one.
